Cannabis in India: From Stigma to Medicine

Cannabis has a complex history in India. Although it has been used for centuries in traditional medicine, it was banned in 1985 for recreational use, which led to a black market. The Indian government recently adjusted its laws, allowing the controlled use of cannabis for medicinal purposes. This shift has made it possible for Calmosis and other legitimate companies to offer safe, regulated products without the risks tied to black-market sources.

The Story Behind Calmosis

In 2023, Karan Naidu and Praveen Singh Rajput founded Calmosis with a mission to provide high-quality, natural cannabis products for wellness. Karan’s interest in cannabis-based health solutions came from a personal story: his mother struggled with sleep issues and had to rely on strong pills that caused side effects. Discovering that cannabis could provide the same relief safely was a game-changer for him, and it inspired the creation of Calmosis.

Praveen, a seasoned entrepreneur, brings business expertise to the venture, ensuring that the startup operates within India’s strict legal framework for medicinal cannabis. Together, they aim to offer safe, accessible cannabis products that meet the needs of modern consumers.

The Calmosis Product Line

Calmosis currently offers two key products:

  1. Peace Mantra: This blend of cannabinoids, including CBD and THC, helps reduce stress, anxiety, migraines, and pain. Priced at Rs 4,500 for a 20 ml bottle, Peace Mantra is clinically tested and approved by the AYUSH ministry, ensuring its safety and effectiveness.
  2. Sleep Mantra: Designed to ease insomnia, Sleep Mantra promotes restful sleep naturally. With CBD as the active ingredient, this formula works within 30 minutes and is ideal for those seeking a non-habit-forming sleep aid.

Looking Ahead

Calmosis has ambitious plans to expand its product range, exploring wellness solutions for period pain and even pet-friendly CBD oils. The startup also has its sights set on international markets, aiming to reach customers in the U.S., Europe, and Southeast Asia.

A New Era in Wellness

Calmosis is paving the way for cannabis-based health solutions in India, offering a safe, legally compliant option for people seeking relief from stress, sleep issues, and more. Through its innovative products, the startup is helping to change the narrative around cannabis, making it accessible for those who need it most.
